Contemporary Group Monday afternoon at the Society of Artists finds the room filled with enthusiasm, conversation and lots of activity. It is busy with so many of the group discussing paintings, techniques and styles. It is a time to bounce ideas, find new inspiration, talk an idea through and develop individual style. An openness to share is a strong culture among the artists as each brings unique artistic experience and they share the same desire to be creative and share skills. Whether beginners or more experienced artists, the Monday afternoon painters enjoy “pushing the boundaries”, mainly using acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. This has meant that each of the group has really developed in their own style and techniques.
Some of the Monday Afternoon Activities:
Hunter Women Artists and Friends' current exhibition at John Hunter Hospital.
Wine tasting Dinner at the Society Rooms. We held a very successful night at the rooms tonight and raised $155 plus $10 donations from Kathy and Rosemary who couldn’t make it. The Monday afternoon group provided the food, we learned a lot about wine from Therese at Emma's Cottage and Vineyard and had a really good get together. Emmas Cottage was happy to get some sales too.
Maitland Gallery Trip On Wednesday, members of the Monday group had a very interesting day at Maitland Gallery. With such a variety of exhibitions happening, the Maitland Gallery is well worth a visit and the Barry Maitland exhibition was a particular favourite, with everyone inspired to hurry home and get the paints out.
Sketching Morning at Wallis Creek Watergarden
The group found lots of inspiration at our recent morning of sketching and photography at Wallis Creek Watergarden, near Mulbring. Many thanks to Annie Palmer who organised the visit.
