Lisa Wiseman - Artist of the month
"the landscape and animals of my home are frequent subjects for paintings and sculptures"
I live on a farm in the hills outside Dungog, with my mother, horses and dogs. It is an especially beautiful area, and one which constantly inspires me.
My work is in two and three dimensions, and a variety of media and sizes, from huge murals to fine crochet lacework. The landscape and animals of my home are frequent subjects for paintings and sculptures, and I enjoy attending the Society’s Life Drawing and Portrait groups. Some of the members may remember my “Cerublu Studio”, a small studio gallery at Dungog, then Morpeth, which showed work by myself and other Hunter Valley artists. Or have seen my wild, whimsical crochet at an Art Bazaar or other exhibitions- the most recent was in Dungog in December, 2022. I love to make bright, colourful, fun and functional hats in particular- like frogs or dragons which hold spectacles for their wearers, horned imp and viking hats, or “scarts”, hats with inbuilt scarves, which also double as totes. At present, I am one of the Liddell WORKS Project artists in residence, and am making 3D crocheted pieces, including soft hard hats or ‘Thinking Caps’, which will be part of a group exhibition at Muswellbrook Regional Gallery in mid 2024. |

Associated with the WORKS Project is the Create by the Lake event, where I’ll be presenting crochet workshops on Wednesday 4th October at Lake Liddell. October promises to be busy, as a crochet sculpture has also been accepted for Sculpture on the Farm, near Dungog at Fosterton over the long weekend, 29 September- 1 October.
