Society Exhibitions
The Society of Artists Newcastle has hosted the Newcastle Art Prize for over 30 years (formerly the Newcastle Mattara Art Prize), an exhibition that is open to members and non-members alike.
The Society also holds a number of member-only exhibitions during year for members to display and possibly sell their art. Each month the Society holds monthly member only exhibitions in the Ron Donkin Gallery room of its workshop in Lambton. Members of the public are welcome to visit when the rooms are open, which is generally each weekday morning from 9:30am to at least 1pm and some days, to 3 or 4pm.
The Society has had over 300 members for many years and, having its own studio rooms at Lambton, it is able to provide a venue for daily social art, tutoring, workshops and small exhibitions of members' work.

UNIQUE PEOPLE OF THE HUNTER
The 2019 Portrait Exhibition of the Portrait Painters Hunter - members of the Society of Artists Newcastle
About 30 paintings by 26 Society members were displayed at the Adamstown Uniting Church Hall over the weekend of 23-24 March. Proceeds from the entry door donations and raffle amounted to $800 which was donated to the church for the good work with homeless and disadvantaged people. A great many people were able to come and enjoy the variety of works and some portraits went to new homes.
The Society extends its thanks to the Church for the use of the hall and their assistance to stage the exhibition.
